My Remodeling Goal
Our goal for the bathroom was to restore it to its former glory while paying close attention to the style, colors and materials that would have been available in the late 1930's and early 1940's . My wife and I bought our first house in 2005, when we moved to Tacoma, Washington. We really wanted to buy and restore and old home. The house we choose was a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage house built in 1940. The house like most old homes had been a victim of numerous badly executed remodels. We renovated the bathroom in the fall of 2006, and it took about a month to complete.
Tips and Advice from My Remodeling Experience
The first thing I would recommend is to have a plan of attack, especially in a home with 1 bathroom, it was very important to be done with everything in the quickest amount of time. First thing you need to do is figure out what you want your space to look like, and what fixtures and appliances you want, and to start estimating the total cost of materials. The second thing is to start contacting your tradesman 4 to 6 months prior to starting, the reason I am saying this because many of them are very busy (such as tile layers) and you need to get on there schedule as soon as possible.
